Facilitated by an advanced social worker in gerontology, this group supports adult children caring for a parent with cognitive impairment.

Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery Support Groups

Free groups are offered in Nassau and Suffolk for people considering bariatric surgery as well as post-op NYU Winthrop Hospital patients. Contact 516-663-1430 for details and registration.

Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Winthrop Hospital provides free virtual support groups. Learn more about Perlmutter Cancer Center Educational Events, including interactive webinars, and survivorship programs.

Blood Cancer Support Group

Facilitated by an oncology social worker, this group helps people with leukemia, lymphoma, and other types of blood cancer develop effective ways of coping. The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 2:30 to 4:00PM. For more information, call 516-663-1058.

Breast Cancer Support Groups

Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Support Group

For those who have recently received a breast cancer diagnosis, this group meets on the fourth Friday of the month from 2:30 to 4:00PM. For more information, call 516-663-2556.

Post Treatment Breast Cancer Support Group

For those who have finished breast cancer treatment, this group meets on the second Friday of the month from 2:30 to 4:00PM. For more information, call 516-663-2556.

General Oncology Group

For adults who have received a cancer diagnosis, this group meets every other Tuesday of the month from 11:00AM to 12:30PM. For more information, call 516-663-1058.

Gynecological Cancer Support Group

This group is for women diagnosed with gynecological cancers, including cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, vaginal cancer, and endometrial cancer. The group meets on the first and third Mondays of the month from 12:00 to 1:30PM. For more information, call 516-663-1017.

Lung Cancer Support Group

This support group is for people who have received a diagnosis for lung cancer. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 1:00 to 2:30PM. For more information, call 516-663-1204.

Prostate Cancer Support Group

This support group is for people who have received a diagnosis for prostate cancer. This group meets on the second Friday of the month from 1:00 to 2:30PM. For more information, call 516-663-1204.

WomenHeart of NYU Winthrop Hospital Support Group

Kindred Spirits

Designed for the parents and caregivers of children with Type 1 diabetes. Parents are engaged in an educational discussion with guest speakers and provided an opportunity to share stories and challenges while receiving emotional support from their peers. KIDs (Kids Interested in Diabetes)

The KIDs Program is designed to teach children about diabetes through games and activities. It is FREE and open to children ages 5 to 10 years and their siblings. Dia-besties

This group was creatively named by our patients who have experienced the benefits of positive peer support while taking part in the Tween Talk Program. Dia-Besties is designed to educate and assist Pre-Teens to positively cope with the stresses of daily life along with living with Type 1 Diabetes through activities and open discussions. It is FREE and open to children ages 10-13 years old. Meetings are facilitated by social worker, Danielle Alessio, LCSW. Tobacco Cessation

Our complimentary six-week program to help smokers quit for good will resume in 2021. Topics include motivational support and pharmacological interventions.
