About Our Program

The NYU Winthrop Dental GPR Program began in July of 2013.

This is a CODA approved General Dentistry Residency Program.

It is designed to provide clinical and didactic dental training with extensive hospital experience at the post-doctoral level.

Residents in this program will provide a wide range of care to clinic patients, as well as, hospital inpatients and outpatients.

We provide dental services to various segments of the population, which are underserved, medically compromised, mentally and physically challenged, pediatric, adult and geriatric.

Upon successful completion of this program, residents will qualify for a Dental License to practice dentistry in New York State.

In addition, this training program will prepare a resident to obtain privileges at area hospitals when they are in private practice.

Our residents are guided by skilled and dedicated faculty from the following disciplines:

  • General Dentistry
  • Oral Surgery
  • Dental Implants
  • Periodontics
  • Endodontics
  • Pediatric Dentistry
  • Oral Medicine and Special Needs Dentistry via direct one on one supervision.

This program has very successful outcomes, exhibited by the numbers of former residents who are currently working in the dental profession, as well as, the number of graduates accepted into post-graduate training programs in Pediatrics, Endodontics and Prosthodontics.

Our Program has, since its inception received the unrelenting support of our hospital’s administration and staff, which has led to the overwhelming success of this program.

We welcome qualified applicants who are graduates of accredited U.S and Canadian dental schools with diverse backgrounds.
