How to Apply for Residency

View Medical Education

Medical students apply to the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at NYU Winthrop Hospital through the Electronic Residency Application System which is overseen by the Association of American Medical Colleges. Medical students file applications electronically at their own medical schools. The materials listed below are required to complete your application file:

  • Common Application Form
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Part I (and Part II if available) Board Score(s)
  • Photo

Our deadline to receive completed applications is October 1, 2019. Completed applications are evaluated by the Chairman and Program Director and their appointed committee, consisting of Orthopedic Faculty from NYU Winthrop Hospital. Qualified individuals will be invited to interview with our program. Each candidate will be interviewed by key faculty (consisting of three to four faculty members within each group), including the Chairman and Program Director. Candidates will get a tour of the NYU Winthrop campus led by our current orthopaedic surgery residents who will be available to speak with and answer questions. Each candidate is ranked, and the names are submitted to the National Resident Matching Program. Upon completion of the match in March, the program and applicants are notified of the results and who will be joining our program.
