Important NIH Changes to Policies, Instructions and Forms for 2016 Applications

Phase 2 of the NIH application changes has begun. All applications with due dates on or after May 25, 2016 must follow the new requirements.
Application FORMS- D have been released and may be downloaded with funding opportunity announcements and from Grants.gov. The following documents and links provide detailed information about the changes.

Important changes have been implemented for NIH applications due on or after January 24, 2016. Existing application forms (FORMS-C) will continue to be used for due dates from January 24 – May 24, 2016 (Phase 1), however modifications have been made to the instructions to reflect the above policy changes.
For May 25, 2016 due dates and beyond (Phase 2), new application forms (FORMS-D) and additional instructions will be required.
Phase 1 changes focus on the following areas:
- Rigor and transparency in research(Phase 1)
- Vertebrate animals(Phase 1)
- Inclusion guidelines and reporting(Phase 1)
- Sex as a relevant biological variable(Phase 1)
