Cancer Center for Kids

The Cancer Center for Kids at NYU Winthrop Hospital

Meeting the challenge of treating childhood cancers and blood disorders.

As the largest outpatient facility for children with cancer and blood disorders in Nassau County, NYU Winthrop’s Cancer Center for Kids is at the forefront of treatment and research.

Patient and Family-Centered Care

Offering a variety of broad-based pediatric programs, the Cancer Center for Kids is dedicated to delivering the most advanced medical care in a comfortable, child-friendly outpatient facility.

Our team of physicians are board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and are highly skilled in combining the most effective therapies with personal attention. They are supported by pediatric hematology/oncology nurses, as well as a dedicated team of healthcare professionals that include a clinical psychologist, social workers, a child life specialist, and a creative arts/music therapist.

Together, they understand the significant challenges for patients and their families dealing with serious illness, and provide compassionate care from diagnosis and treatment through long-term follow-up.

At the Cancer Center for Kids, we believe patient-physician partnership is essential to providing the best possible care. This is why all patient contact – inpatient and outpatient, telephone or electronic – is conducted with an attending physician. We also believe that treatment should be both convenient and comfortable. Patients, at the center, receive transfusions, infusions, chemotherapy treatments, and even procedures under anesthesia in a safe, comforting environment that is close to home.

Leading the Way in Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research

The Cancer Center for Kids is proud to be a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), an international consortium of collaborating hospitals recognized as leaders in the treatment of pediatric cancers. COG members are at the forefront of cancer research and treatment protocols. Our collaborative studies and access to New York City’s bone marrow transplant units enable us to offer world-class medicine to the Nassau County communities.
