The NYU Winthrop Down Syndrome Program provides compassionate, comprehensive and coordinated care for children with Down syndrome. The program caters to children ages 0-19 years.
Our staff includes Dr. Moris Angulo, Director of Medical Genetics and Associate Director of Pediatric Endocrinology, who leads a multidisciplinary consisting of a Pediatric Psychologist, a Pediatric Registered Dietician/Nutritionist and a Social Worker. Each of these specialists will meet and evaluate your child during a single scheduled visit.
During the initial visit, the child will be evaluated by our team of specialists to identify your child’s age specific needs and address medical issues using a group approach. The team meets pre- and post-visit for each patient and a summary with findings and suggestions is forwarded to the patient’s pediatrician.
Following the assessment visit, the program coordinator will work with your family to set up recommended follow up appointments with NYU Winthrop Specialists, scheduled within 48 hours of the initial assessment.
New and expectant parents will be directed to our program coordinator who will set you up with informational sessions on understanding Down Syndrome. Our coordinator will also set up visits with our providers who will assess your child once he or she is born.
